Finally completed MR. BIG’s last performance in Japan. A 3-disc set that allows you to fully experience “another BUDOKAN” that is different from TV broadcasting is now available.
This work contains two audience records for one show. “July 25, 2023: Nippon Budokan” performance. It is a 3-disc set with the excellent original recording on DISC 1-2 and the superb view shot on DISC 3. Speaking of Nippon Budokan this time, the relay by a certain satellite broadcasting station became a hot topic, but this work is a completely different performance. In addition to that, let’s take a look at the collection with the schedule including “NAGOYA 2023” and “OSAKA 2023” that have already been released.

All four performances above. Nippon Budokan was a two-day performance, and the last day was the TV broadcast. This work is a three-disc set that vacuum-packed the day before with two superb records. Let’s introduce each one individually.

[DISC 1-2: neat and spectacular original recording] The first thing to appear is the main full live album of this work. It is an original recording given by the recording artist himself, but this is a wonderful beautiful recording. “OSAKA 2023” has been a hot topic with its fierce tight sound, but this work captured from “B7 block” absorbs hall noise, is dynamic, and is fresh and beautiful. Of course, there is no original or child if it becomes blurry and boa boa due to hall noise, but there is no need to worry about that in this work. The powerful thrust of the core reaches your ears as if breaking through the beautiful ringing, and you can clearly see the rapid fire of the bass that tends to blur. Even the guitar & bass solo in “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy” can enjoy the degree of synchronization of each note.
I’m also happy that Eric Martin’s vocals are playing the leading role. This does not simply mean “vocal volume is loud”. Of course, it is easy to hear every word of the lyrics, but more than that, the sound of this work gives Eric’s husky voice an exquisite luster. This time, it felt a bit rubbed by the show, but in this work, it has a high density and colors the singing voice with a deep taste.

[DISC 3: Experience-based full video with the naked eye] The video that follows such a famous recording is also a masterpiece. It is taken from the first floor arena slightly to the left (closer to Paul Gilbert), but the superb view that allows you to see the stage directly without any obstructions and the sense of stability that is crisp is wonderful. As a matter of fact, zooming is not so bold, but it is a huge screen behind the stage that does not matter at all. This fits perfectly, and you can enjoy the professional shot image projected there.
In addition, the human eye does not have a zoom function, so camera work that does not use a lot of zoom (not that it does not use it at all) leads to a realistic on-site experience. Both “the sight of the members lined up on the stage in front of you” and “the multi-camera do-up projected on the screen” come into view at once, and at the same time you can fully enjoy the “feeling of being present at the real scene”. It is a delicious masterpiece video no matter how you look at it.
Such a full live album/video depicts a full set to announce the end. The set is the same as the last day of the broadcast, but let’s organize it here as well.

… and it looks like this. At “OSAKA 2023”, I enjoyed the FREE cover “Mr. Big”, but it seems that it ended up being a limited song only for Osaka. It was fixed with the same set as Nagoya on the first day.
MR. BIG loved Japan and was loved by Japan. For them, Nippon Budokan was their home ground where they performed the most live performances (even in the whole world). The final performance has become a hot topic for relay pro shots, but this work is a big set that allows you to enjoy a different experience from the previous day’s show. Because everyone is paying attention to professional shots, I would like you to experience a completely different emotional scene. Please fully bite the 3-disc set for that purpose.

そんな本作に収められているのは１つのショウの２つのオーディエンス記録。「2023年７月25日：日本武道館」公演。その絶品オリジナル録音をDISC 1-2に、絶景ショットをDISC 3に配した３枚組です。今回の日本武道館と言えば、某衛星放送局による中継が話題となりましたが、本作はまったくの別公演。その辺も合わせ、すでにリリースしている『NAGOYA 2023』『OSAKA 2023』も交えて日程でコレクションを一望しておきましょう。

以上の全４公演。日本武道館は２日連続公演であり、TV中継が入ったのは最終日。本作はその前日を２つの極上記録で真空パックした３枚組なのです。それでは、それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。

【DISC 1-2：端正＆スペクタクルなオリジナル美録音】
まず登場するのは、本作メインのフル・ライヴアルバム。録音家本人から譲られたオリジナル録音なのですが、これが素晴らしい美録音。『OSAKA 2023』は猛烈なタイト・サウンドで話題を呼びましたが、「B７ブロック」から捉えた本作はホール鳴りも吸い込みつつ、それがダイナミックであり、そして瑞々しく美しい。もちろん、ホール鳴りでボケボケ・ボワボワになっては元も子もありませんが、本作にその心配は無用。力強い芯の突進力は美しい鳴りを食い破るように耳元に届き、滲みがちなベースの速射もしっかりと分かる。「Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy」でのギター＆ベース・ソロでさえ、１音１音のシンクロ度を味わえるのです。
そんな中でエリック・マーティンのヴォーカルが主役を張っているのも嬉しい。これは単に「ヴォーカルの音量が大きい」という意味ではありません。もちろん、歌詞の一語一語まで聞き取りやすいわけですが、それ以上に本作の鳴りがエリックのハスキー・ヴォイスに絶妙な艶を与えている。今回はショウによって擦れ気味にも感じられましたが、本作では密度が高く、滋味深い歌声を伸びやかに彩ってくれるのです。

【DISC 3：肉眼感覚の体験型フル映像】
そんな名録音に続く映像も名作級。やや左寄り（ポール・ギルバート寄り）の１階アリーナから撮影されているのですが、遮蔽物なくステージを直視できる絶景とビシッとした安定感が素晴らしい。実のところ、あまりズームは果敢ではないのですが、それがまったく問題にならないのはステージ後方の巨大スクリーン。これがスッポリ綺麗に収まっており、そこに映し出されたプロショット映像がばっちり楽しめるのです。
さらに言えば、人間の眼にはズーム機能ないわけで、ズームを多用しない（まったく使わないわけではありません）カメラワークはリアルな現場の体験感にも繋がる。「目の前のステージにメンバーが並ぶ光景」「スクリーンに映し出されるマルチカメラ・ドアップ」の両方がいっぺんに視界に入り、同時に「リアルな現場の居合わせ感」まで満喫できる。どんな見方をしても美味しい傑作映像なのです。
そんなフル・ライヴアルバム／映像で描かれるのは、最後を告げるためのフルセット。セットは中継のあった最終日と同じですが、ここでも整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『OSAKA 2023』ではFREEのカバー「Mr. Big」も楽しめましたが、どうやら大阪だけの限定曲に終わった模様。初日の名古屋と同じセットで固定されました。
日本を愛し、日本に愛され続けたMR. BIG。彼らにとっての日本武道館は（全世界的に言っても）もっとも多くのライヴを行ったホーム・グラウンドでした。その最終公演は中継プロショットが話題となっておりますが、本作はそれとは異なる前日ショウを異なる体験感で味わい尽くせるビッグ・セットなのです。誰もがプロショットに注目しているからこそ、まったく違う感慨の現場体験も味わっていただきたい。そのための３枚組、存分に噛みしめてください。
