On the first day of the US tour accompanying “Fair Warning” in 1981, a title that completely recorded the performance of Providence Civic Center on May 15 with high-quality audience recording is now available. Following the angry opening On Fire, you can listen to a set unique to this tour, with new songs such as Sinner’s Swing !, Hear About It Later, and So This Is Love ?. The cover of “Lucille” is recorded in the latter half, and it is one in the listening place. Although recorded by the audience, the sound quality is very stable from beginning to end, and you can fully enjoy the awesome play of Van Halen’s heyday with vivid sound. It is a recommended piece that you can listen to Eddie’s terrible solo play with clear sound quality.
★ beatleg magazine vol.92 (March 2008 issue) This is a review summary of “VAN HALEN Trajectory Followed from Underground Sound Source”. For your reference.
Since there are no sound board sources other than the promo video from the “Fair Warning” tour, many of its wonderful performances can only be heard in audience recordings. Since it is a North American audience in 1981, overexpectation is prohibited, but this sound source has a good balance of each instrument and is recorded clearly in the rhythm section, so it is very easy to listen to. Instead, Eddie’s guitar sounds a bit quieter, but it shouldn’t be a problem in terms of balance. It can be said that it maintains the best sound quality as the sound source of the existing tour.
In terms of performance, the length of the show finally exceeded 90 minutes, and Eddie’s guitar solo was constantly shown up to nearly 8 minutes. It’s been around this time that Dave’s story has become long, and talking for nearly five minutes before “So This Is Love?” It’s also from this tour that Dave is shown smoking marijuana cigarettes coming from the audience. Even in such an obscene party atmosphere, the band’s performance is awesome. “Mean Street” is played before “Ice Cream Man”, but the order of the songs changes later. The biggest listening is “Lucille”, which will soon be replaced by “Feel Your Love Tonight”. Although the sound source is very early in the tour, the performance is already well done, and it is impressive that the songs from the latest album are particularly good.
